FLAG
Flag is an international creative communication agency, based just outside Cambridge. I initially worked for them in 2000, temping there for a few weeks before I started work at Beauty and Health Publishing.
My position was very much a trial, the project managers were over worked and needed some support on
day to day project work. One of my major triumphs in my first period at Flag was working alongside a project manager on a graduate recruitment brochure which was being shot in Edinburgh.
Back in Cambridge, I managed to talk the security team at Edinburgh airport into letting us take photographs on the runway (this was pre 9/11) and liased with several students, shops, and even Hearts Football club to get tickets and access for photographers so that we could shoot images of the 'happy graduates' in their home environment! I managed to co-ordinate the behind the scenes work while the project manager was tearing her hair out in Scotland and the project went very well.
My second stint at Flag was following my redundancy from Beauty and Health Publishing. They took me back as an assistant to the print manager, to help with her escalating workload. In this time I was on a steep learning curve,
as I had no previous experience of printing terminology or procedure. I enjoyed the work, but as the year went on the work dropped off and despite looking for other projects (and spending time working with the web project managers testing their sites) I was made redundant again.
